GridLiance High Plains

Overview

GridLiance High Plains is a transmission-only utility formed to partner with municipally-owned electric utilities, joint action agencies, and electric cooperatives in the Southwest Power Pool, Inc. (SPP) region to solve transmission issues, optimize its partners systems, and help manage costs on these systems to the benefit of its partners and the broader transmission grid.

GridLiance High Plains became a Transmission-Owning Member of SPP following its acquisition of approximately 10 miles of transmission lines and related assets from the City of Nixa, Missouri and subsequent transfer of those assets to SPP’s operational control. Additionally, GridLiance High Plains acquired from Tri-County Electric Cooperative, Inc. approximately 410 miles of transmission lines and other facilities in Oklahoma operated at 115 kV and 69 kV in the SPP area. GridLiance High Plains subsequently acquired a 13.5 mile 34.5 kV transmission line from Tri-County that connects Tri-County’s Elm and Blade substations.
